Recipe: Dog-Friendly Pup Chips Made With Seasonal Fall Ingredients

Pup chips.

Walking through a farmer’s market in fall might be one of my favorite things. There are so many rich and beautiful vegetables, and many of them are dog friendly! Veggies like carrots and sweet potatoes carry health benefits for your dogs, and there are lots of ways to prepare them.

Recipe: Pup Chips

Pup chips are a great way to pack in the colors and nutrition of fall for both you and your dog!

Ingredients:
Sweet potatoes
Beets
Turnips and/or carrots
Coconut oil
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Wash and dry your vegetables — make sure they are very dry.
3. Slice all of your vegetables very thinly, keeping them similarly sized. If you’re not so sure of your knife skills, use a mandoline slicer or a vegetable peeler. (The peeler will yield smaller chips, so adjust the cooking time slightly.)
4. Coat lightly in coconut oil.
5. Put in the oven for 2 hours, flipping the chips once halfway through. Keep an eye on them during the last half hour, as cooking time will vary a bit based on your oven and the size/thickness of your chips.
Helpful tip: For you, sprinkle a little salt or your favorite seasoning on the chips as you pull them out of the oven, and label them “humans only.”
