What Makes Them Tick!
- Ticks can be found in a number of places. They love the tall thick grass, wooded areas and most importantly moist environment. They are very tiny and for this reason can go unnoticed on you and your pet for some time.
- Fleas thrive on warm humid areas and are more widespread from May through September. They can mutiply very easily on your pet and in your home as a female fleas is known to lay as many as 50 eggs a day!
Tips To Protect You and Your Pet!
- Vacuum, dust, sweep and mop your home regularly.
- Wash all sheets, comforters, blankets and pet bedding regularly with a mild laundry detergent. Be sure to dry all pet bedding on high heat.
- Make sure grass is mowed weekly, and bushes and shrubs are trimmed.
- Remove any and all debris, weeds and waste away from home and yard.
- Do not leave any free standing water outside and be sure to change your pet's water and food daily.
- Check your pets daily for any fleas or ticks especially after a walk, hike or dog park run.
- Check for ticks by running your fingers through your pets coat and be sure to check around the face, chin, ears, neck and under the legs.
- Check for fleas by taking a grooming brush and separate your fur and look for tiny black spots especially around the hind area.
- Protect your pet by using lea and tick prevention such as Frontline, Advantix and Advantage.
